How to replace or clean the elevator nut

The elevator nut is one of the few potential wear items on the Proton. It can also sometimes accumulate dust, sand or fuzz and be helped by a cleaning. The video below shows some important details on how to do this correctly.

You can purchase an elevator nut from our store. You will also need the following tools

• 3mm hex key (to loosen the chassis from the shell)

• 2mm hex key (for set screws on the nut)

You may also wish to view the video on how to open a Proton, although you don’t have to fully remove it from the shell for this repair.
